Sports Massage/Deep Tissue Massage
Osteopathy is a gentle and effective approach which uses: soft tissue techniques, manipulation, stretching and massage to help reduce pain and restore your movement.
Osteopathy involves an assessment, examination and uses information from your case history to help form a diagnosis. Osteopathy is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on treatment, which is always tailored specifically to your diagnosis. Osteopathy is a holistic approach which means it will focus on any predisposing or maintaining factors pertaining to your problem. You will be given useful advice, lifestyle changes and specific exercises which will improve your flexibility and help you to return to a pain-free life.
Osteopaths are trained to treat a large range of musculoskeletal problems affecting the whole body. Some of which include: sports injuries, disc bulges, sciatica, sprains/strains, headaches, arthritic pain and much more.
The treatment is specific and tailored to you and your particular problem. The evaluation and assessment of your treatment plan will be on-going and flexible.
Sore and achy after that long run or intense gym session? A sports massage could be just what you need. Sports massage works by improving circulation, increasing flexibility & mobility, and by relieving muscle tension. This helps to prevent injuries from developing, therefore keeping you active.
The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity.
You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to enjoy the benefits of a sports massage. As treatment becomes more accessible and affordable, those of us who lead active lifestyles are enjoying the benefits. If you train regularly, include a weekly sports massage in your routine to help prevent injury.
Sports massage therapy can prevent or relieve delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). It does this by encouraging blood and lymph flow throughout the body to help prevent muscle fatigue.
Acupuncture treatment involves fine needles being inserted through the skin and briefly left in position. The number of needles varies, but usually only two or three. The practitioner will assess each patient’s case, and treatment will be tailored to the individual.
Acupuncture stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of effects. Acupuncture increases the body's release of natural painkillers - endorphin and serotonin - in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and the brain. This modifies the way pain signals are received, resulting in reduced pain levels experienced by the patient.
Kinesiology tape is used by practitioners throughout the world to treat injuries and improve sports performance. It can also be used successfully in conjunction with osteopathic treatment.
While the use of Kinesiology Tape is often associated with athletes such as Serena Williams, Kerri Walsh and Lance Armstrong, the reality is that it is effective for the treatment of a wide variety of problems, not just sports injuries.
What can Kinesiology Tape be used for?
• Achilles tendonitis
